INTERNATIONAL DOCTORAL SYMPOSIUM 2022 ATTRACT POTENTIAL POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

UUM ONLINE: The Postgraduate Studies Unit of UUM College of Business (COB) and the Graduate School of the Prince of Songkhla University (PSU) successfully held a doctoral symposium known as the UUM-PSU International Doctoral Symposium (IDS) 2022 recently as part of the initiative to foster international collaboration between both universities and aims to attract potential postgraduate students from Southern Thailand.

A total of 19 PhD students from UUM COB and PSU presented their research work during this one-day symposium. On the UUM’s side, the participating students came from the School of Business Management (SBM) and the Islamic Business School (IBS). While from PSU, the participating students came from the Faculty of Management Science (FMS) and the Faculty of Islamic Science (FIS). The presentation of each student was assessed by a panel of two reviewers, one from UUM and the other one from PSU.

The symposium was launched by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM COB, Prof. Dr. Mohd Amy Azhar Mohd Harif and the Dean of the Graduate School of PSU, Prof. Dr. Damrongsak Faroongsarng.

Then it was followed by Keynote Speeches by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Subramaniam Sri Ramalu from UUM and Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Jumani from PSU, and the main event - paper presentations by doctoral students from both universities.

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Damrongsak expressed his gratification with the success of IDS and urged that both universities continue this kind of international collaboration in the future.

The chairperson of IDS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Azam Abdul Razak, wrapped up the event by expressing his gratitude to all members of the IDS Working Committee, reviewers, presenters and everyone involved in the symposium.

The symposium ended with the announcement of the Best Presentation Awards, which were won by Ms. Phoon Lee Yong from UUM and Mr. Siwat Suwannasin from PSU.
